Remembering Little Pieces of Light

Just yesterday, in Tony’s holiday playlist, I heard a song I sang when I was in college, at a holiday concert. The memory of that song, the place, the people brought joy to my heart, a little light in a busy day.

And then last night, we made our traditional St. Nicholas cookies to share with family and friends. This always starts my December off in the spirit of joy.

For your holiday season, I have created a spread of stars for you to mark down the days until Christmas, if that is the holiday you celebrate. Otherwise, it is just a fun way to move through the month of December.

The star coloring sheet contains 24 six pointed stars, and 48 five pointed stars. I chose to draw stars because we are in the darkest part of the year. Remembering light and focusing on light helps us to remember that after winter solstice on the 21st of the month, light will be returning.

Here are just some of the ways you can use this coloring sheet to move you into the holiday season.

December is always a good time to look back at the year and reflect on the things that brought you joy.

Use the 24 six pointed stars to mark the big joys in your year. Perhaps you had big moments that came all at once, or maybe you can look back and find a cluster of them at a certain time. Maybe you can reflect and think of two things a month that brought you great joy. Using your calendar can help you remember events and people that were a part of your joy this year.

The little stars can be used in so many ways.

· 24 little pieces of light that happened over the year

· 24 little pieces of light that happen each day in December

· 24 things you are grateful for

· 24 things you are going to do to share kindness each day in December

· 24 things that connect to your intention word of the year (if you picked a word)

· 24 people that bring light into your life

· 24 people that you are sending light to this season

Use a journal along with this coloring sheet to help you more deeply reflect on the goodness that is all around. Writing down your joy helps you to step more fully into those moments, and reminds you to create more joy for yourself and others.

I hope this little gift helps you to appreciate this season- to slow down, to take 15 minutes of time for yourself each day, to journal and color. When you take time to nurture yourself, you are better able to meet all people and experiences with openness and curiosity. Blessings to you!
